Macau, Hong Kong, Jakarta — three places in a few weeks. The travel was easy. What we learned between destinations was more interesting.
Hello from Jakarta, Indonesia
We’ve been moving a lot these past few weeks.
Macao. Then Hong Kong. Now Jakarta.
Each place felt different. Different pace, different energy, different rhythm.
Hong Kong gave us time with a friend. Jakarta feels more like a pause before what comes next.
What happens between destinations
We used to focus on destinations.
Now we pay more attention to what happens between them.
Leaving one place and arriving in another changes more than location. In the meantime, we’re still learning not to rush that part.
The quality of your travel is often decided between destinations — not at them.
What we use when moving between places
When you’re moving between places, there are a lot of small decisions happening in the background.
One tool we use consistently is Capital One Shopping. It’s free — you create an account, install it once, and it automatically checks for better prices and applies available rewards when you’re booking or buying something online.
We used it when booking a hotel in South America, and we’ll receive cashback on that stay. For those who don’t focus on points and miles, cashback is a simpler option. There’s currently an offer available for new users of around $80 depending on eligibility and usage.
